It is the time in which the importance of tachometers is becoming more and more important due to higher speeds and longer distances, and a clear arrangement of the displays is the focus in the cockpit itself. This includes on the dashboard also the speedometer with total and daily meter. It is precisely these small details of the historical models that the new Master Driver Day Date takes up, and at the same time links up to the Master Driver from 2016.
Yesterday, today and tomorrow in view
The Junghans designers have designed the Master Driver Day Date with the inspiration of the total and daily mileage counters: the day and date displays are in bar form - the arrangement is based on the automobile models. This unique type of display, which is equipped with semi-transparent surfaces on the side of the current date and weekday display, is made possible by the individual imprinting in the in-house dialing printer. The color world of the timepiece is also based on the tachometers of the 1930s: a refinement with an effective polishing lacquer conveys a very special flair. With a diameter of 40 mm, the new Master Driver Day Date is a three-seater watch with an independent character.
Junghans Master Driver - passion and pioneer
The strong connection between Junghans and the automobile has existed since the end of the 19th century. Arthur Junghans, the son of company founder Erhard Junghans, had a deep friendship with Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach, and so he bought one of the first Daimler test cars already in 1892. Only three years later, Arthur Junghans ordered a four-seater motor-driven Victorian wagon, for which he specifically manufactured the worm gearing. Already at the beginning of the 20th century the company Autouhren produced. In addition, numerous inventions were made - in 1905, Dr. Oskar Junghans, son of Arthur Junghans, developed a speedometer with built-in speed record. His brother Helmut shares the passion for the automobile, In 1924 he designed a "Viadicator" for the directional display in cooperation with the company Leitz in Wetzlar - known as the forerunner of today's turn signal. This over 100-year relationship to the automobile is now passed on by the Junghans partners, Dr. Hans-Jochem and Hannes Steim. And so Steim in Schramberg, which celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2017, is a cross-section of more than 110 years of automobile history - with stylish vintage cars that inspire the models of the Masterdriver series and bring this passion to the wrist .
